This is a great recipe and tastes just like the real thing. Don't eat too much now!!
2 sticks of butter, I used unsalted
1 c. sugar
1 T. corn syrup
3 T. water
2/3 c. slivered or 1/2 c. chopped almonds
1 c. milk chocolate chips
In a med. saucepan, melt the butter, add the sugar, syrup and water. Mix well and let mix boil on med heat until temperature reaches 290 degrees. This is just shy of the hard crack stage and the color will change to a darker hazelnut. Don't stir much while it's cooking, just swirl the pan once in a while and don't let it get too dark.(Keep your cooking temp approx med, not hi). Once it reaches this stage, take it off the heat and add 1/2 of the almonds and then pour into a 9x13 greased pan. Put the chocolate chips on top of the candy and in a minute, the heat will melt the chocolate, then you can spread it smoothly to cover the candy. Sprinkle the remaining almonds on top and let it cool. You can cool it in the frig for a little while to firm up the chocolate, but it doesn't need refrigeration. With the tip of a sharp knife just chip off a piece and ENJOY !!! You are going to love this one!!
